The city of Houston is faced with a pressing issue of crime that demands immediate attention. On a daily basis, whether it's through television or internet news, we witness individuals falling victim to various forms of harm. It is our commitment to guarantee the safety of our citizens and to appropriately distribute resources to provide them with the necessary protection and security they deserve.
Within our city, there exists a community that can be described as a "City Within A City" - our homeless population. As you traverse various neighborhoods, you'll come across families residing on the streets, lacking essential services that could assist them in finding stability, such as employment, medical support, and mental health care. Our utmost priority is to make every effort possible to provide these families, particularly the children, with an opportunity to pursue the American Dream.
When you take a moment to drive or stroll through our city and its diverse neighborhoods, you cannot help but observe the excessive amount of litter strewn across our streets. Whether it stems from irresponsible dumping or inconsistent garbage collection, the sight of trash is increasingly becoming an unpleasant aspect of our city, and our residents deserve a higher standard of cleanliness. It is imperative that we provide them with a living environment where they do not have to encounter daily street litter upon returning home.If you take some time to drive or walk through the city and different neighborhoods, you will notice the amounts of trash that are on our streets. Whether it’s through dumping or inconsistent trash pickups, the presence of trash is becoming an eyesore for this city and our residents deserve better than to come home to trash
on the streets every day.
Access to clean drinking water is an essential necessity for our community. In the event of boil water advisories, it is crucial that these notices are promptly issued to ensure our residents do not unintentionally consume water that may be contaminated. Timeliness in communicating such advisories is of utmost importance to safeguard the well-being of our residents and ensure they have access to safe and uncontaminated drinking water.
It is imperative that we prioritize the restoration of fiscal stability. This includes ensuring that funds are allocated appropriately and directed towards essential needs. If the city asserts a lack of available funds, it becomes crucial to examine the city's budget and scrutinize how the existing funds are being utilized. By doing so, we can identify areas where adjustments can be made to ensure financial resources are utilized effectively and efficiently.
